Dead Pool March 2011 – JBoost.com

There hasn’t been a month without VPS providers going under, since I
first posted about the dead pool
 in May last year. There is only one in March 2011.

I first posted about
JBoost
 back in November 2010, who are the reseller of BurstNet at discounted price ($1 cheaper than Burst retail). I guess reselling VPS packages does not really put you in any advantage in this cut-throat market, and selling it cheaper than Burst just cuts the profit margin even deeper. See
this WHT thread
 about what happened, but it’s good that all clients are transferred over to Burst so I guess no one has lost a server. “Personal reason” was stated for the exit, although I wondered what happened to their 15 in-house employees and office.
OthersOkay. There was only one whose home page cease to work (my definition of in the dead pool). However AFAIK there might be others who have gone out of business or got acquired. For example

HazeNet
 — they surely look dead from comments in their last post. Then
they got acquired by Thrust::VPS
. Still running on their old server so I won’t mark them as dead yet.
VPSTree
 — they have been like a ghost ship for several months. Home page and the servers are still up, but no one responds to anything. Even cancelled VPS still gets going and going. However it looks like
it’s gradually falling apart
. Maybe we’ll pronounce it dead soon.That’s it for this month
